Travel Tip: How to Find A Quiet Hotel Room

 In Blog @en

How do you find a quiet hotel room? It all depends on the questions you ask, coupled with some new design changes at certain hotels.

Ask the clerk how close your room is to the hotel’s ballroom. If your room is anywhere near the ballroom, it will get very noisy around 2 or 3 in the morning, when the garbage trucks pull up to throw away all the empty wine and champagne bottles from the event the night before.

Does your hotel offer white noise machines? That’s a dead giveaway that the room is already too noisy.

Some hotels are providing padded headboards, which is not just for comfort, but for noise insulation.

Are you staying at a convention hotel? Chances are it will be very quiet on Friday and Saturday nights.

A resort? Very noisy. Conversely, there will likely be loud kids on the weekends, but the resort will be extremely quiet on Sundays and Mondays.

Some hotels are actually trying to rate sound levels. They’ve developed a standard that awards certain hotel rooms with a “Quiet Room” label.

Crowne Plaza Hotels has started to introduce designated quiet zone floors. This means no housekeeping or engineering services between 9 p.m. and 10 a.m.
